Late February Post.

Speaking of knowing where your food comes from... This is a picture of my Red Holstein Calf just hours after it was born. He was my first calf that I had the privilege of being able to bottle feed and raise until the time of harvesting. Not only are animals that are raised locally, processed better, they are also better quality. People that take the time to feed their animals correctly will have better quality products produced in the end. It's just like farming any kind of produce. If you treat your plants with the right fertilizers and are using the right envoirment, you are going to get a better more natural product.

Supporting local farmers, not only benefits the farmers it also benefits the consumer by getting a higher quality product. When supporting local farmers you are also making the choice to help support your community.
Think before you eat.

March blog #1

We have been on the topic of food lately and it really makes me grateful that I know where most of my food comes from. This may look like a dirty pig to you and you may be thinking "oh I would never eat that" because it's too dirty or gross. Sadly this pig is cleaner and 100x better quality than any of the meat you buy at the store. I am thankful that I have the opportunity to raise my own meat. Knowing where your food comes from is good, but when you have known and raised the animal from the time it was delivered to the day it is slaughtered is rare. BUY LOCAL! SUPPORT LOCAL FARMERS! That's all :)

Oh and that Aubrey in the picture.
She's the newest pig and was having fun in the mud today after feeding.
